Plastic Surgery Not a Cure for Body Dysmorphic DisorderBody dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a brain-based disorder that causes a misperception of what one or more of a person's body parts look like. A common action for those with BDD is to pursue plastic surgery. Unfortunately, as About.com guide to plastic surgery Natalie Kita writes, plastic surgery doesn't change the way the brain works. Worse, a person with BDD can emerge perceiving several new physical "problems" that create even more anxiety.
