Book Review: Intuitive Eating

By April 6, 2012

Written by Evelyn Tribole, MS, RD and Elyse Resch, MS, RD, FADA, Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program That Works has been a book that I regularly recommend to clients suffering from eating disorders and chronic dieting.  The principles sound easy in theory, but go against many of the messages about weight and food that are propagated in our society.  The program encourages readers to learn how to recognize physical cues for both hunger and satiety and learn to accept their body's natural weight.  It is a book that can help free you from diet cycling and always thinking about food and/or weight.

This book changed my life from the awful, constant obsession with food into a more normal attitude towards eating. I’m not perfect, but I’ve come a long way thanks to Intuitive Eating. I would recommend it to anyone that struggles with food, dieting, or weight.

I am reading it right now.

After 30 years of suffering from BED with no relief from any pill, doctor, program, herb, acupuncture, I was ready to do something radically different.

So I am in counseling, meditating, praying, working out, being determined and reading this book !
