
When I talk with people who are struggling with bulimia (or their family members) I often hear about the difficulty they have stopping the cycle of binge eating and purging once it gets started. Unfortunately, it can seem like an overwhelming proposition. However, learning about the cycle itself and identifying key points in your own cycle can be the first step in stopping it. For most people, the cycle is a predictable pattern of emotions, thoughts and behaviors. Once you have identified your own cycle, you can begin taking a look at what points in the cycle you would be most able to break the pattern.
