Matthew Tiemeyer, MA, LMHC, maintains a private practice in the Seattle area. He specializes in treatment of eating disorders, sexual abuse, and relationship issues.

Experience:

Matthew's work leads him into in-depth investigations of the lives of those struggling with eating disorders. Their trust has given Matthew a broad perspective and has strengthened his appreciation for a balance of counseling, nutritional support, medical expertise, and the building of strong social foundations.

In addition to Matthew's work in private practice, he has engaged in team-based counseling for the treatment of eating disorders in an intensive outpatient setting.

Education:

Matthew holds a Master of Arts in counseling from Mars Hill Graduate School in Bothell, Washington.

From Matthew Tiemeyer:

I pursued counseling as a second career because I realized I was living in a kind of deprivation as a software developer. I could have stayed in the field indefinitely, but I knew my heart just wasn't in it. Still, leaving the predictable discomfort that I knew was difficult.

Women and men with eating disorders face a far greater hurdle. Their discomfort is enormous, and their shame debilitating. Overcoming their fear requires much more courage than switching careers. It is my privilege to work with them on a daily basis.

It's my hope that the information here will provide hope to those who struggle with eating, regardless of their step in the journey, and to their families and friends.
