"I Think About Burning Up Calories When I Exercise"

Every cardio machine in the gym has a readout that will tell you how many calories you've burned over the course of your workout. Why is that a bad thing?

It's not, if it's one of many things to which you're paying attention. How do you feel after your workout? Your lungs? Legs? Do you feel stronger? Are you breathing easier?

Focusing too much on burning calories means a focus on weight loss alone. That perspective, similar to the perspective likely to exist when dieting, can be a setup for disordered eating.
