Control is different from awareness. A person can be "in control" and at the same time completely unaware of why she is making certain choices.

With awareness, you can make choices that allow you to enjoy yourself and avoid eating too much, because you'll realize you're uncomfortable and stop.

Having "control" can put a person on autopilot, refusing food even when hungry and ending up having undeniable cravings later. Control for its own sake can lead to an eating disorder.
