The first place that I recommend someone look are to other professionals in your area. People you already know, such as a physician or school counselor, often have lists of treatment centers and therapists that they can recommend to you. Another place to begin looking is with your insurance company. If you know that you will need to use your insurance to pay for treatment, call or look up the provider directory online. They typically keep a list of providers and their specialties available for their clients.
There are also several referral resources available online that specialize in helping people find treatment specifically for eating disorders. You may want to keep in mind that some of these directories are paid, meaning that therapists and treatment centers pay to be listed in them, while others are professional organizations with qualification requirements.

Other directories are also available through various professional organizations. While these directories don’t specialize in eating disorders specifically, many of their therapists may treat eating disorders.
